Well Hematite nation had a so-so week last week. The boys continued their winning ways, notching two wins against Gwinn & Kingsford. Unfortunately, the girls weren’t able to get back on track losing both of their conference games and three of their last four. While the girls certainly aren’t going to be happy with their losses, there is no shame in the losses they suffered last week. They held a Negaunee Miners team to 32 points, but just couldn’t put the ball in the hole when they needed to en route to a 30-32 loss. The girls continued their difficult week heading across town to take on the Patriots in Westwood. Westwood, who is a deceivingly good team, used their speed that gave Negaunee fits the week before to keep the Lady Hematites just a little bit off balance. Westwood was able to put up some decent points on their way to defeating the Lady Hematites 51-42.
As mentioned before, the boys went two-for-two last week, collecting one MPC and one non-conference victory in the process. The first game came on the road against Gwinn (who they played for the second time in three games) where the boys were able to play some stout defense and hit the shots they needed to come out on top 55-51. In their second game of the week the boys headed to Kingsford for a date with the Flivers. The boys were able to pick up an easy win as they shut down the Flivers while still scoring a decent amount as the Hematites improved to 7-2 with a 59-39 victory.

Friday, 1/31 Ishpeming Hematites @ Iron Mountain Mountaineers at 7:45pm. Pregame will begin at 7:15pm
Girls
The Girls game for Monday 1/27/14 will be rescheduled to a later date.
Wednesday, 1/29 Ishpeming Hematites vs. Gwinn Modeltowners at 7:45pm. Pregame at 7:15.
