Negaunee, MI – July 21, 2016 – Do you want to help a local veteran make a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Washington, D.C.? Well, you can by donating to Upper Peninsula Honor Flight! They’re gearing up for another mission to bring our local veterans to visit the memorials that stand in their honor and Honor Credit Union will match your donation!
Honor Credit Union is accepting donations for Upper Peninsula Honor Flight’s next mission in September. Donations will be accepted through July 31st and everyone who donates will be entered to win a $500 grill package. The Honor Team will announce the winner of the grill at noon on August 1st on 103 FXD and Sunny 101.9 FM.
Upper Peninsula Honor Flight
Upper Peninsula Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that honors our veterans by bringing them on a “Tour of Honor” through Washington, D.C. This Tour of Honor is completely FREE to the veterans. Airfare, meals, deluxe tour bus, t-shirt, and other items are provided at absolutely NO COST to the veterans.
But the U.P. Honor Flight needs our help to make these Tours of Honor possible, and since approximately 500 veterans from WWII die every day, we’re running out of time to say ‘thank you’ to them. The majority of the veterans that take the Tour of Honor are in their 80s and have never seen these memorials due to health, logistics or financial constraints.
“It’s a race against the clock to say ‘thank you’ to some of these vets,” Northern Division President Ron Lauren said. “As a result, we’re matching donations made by the community up to $2,500 so we can send as many veterans as possible on the next Honor Flight.”
