Negaunee, MI – July 9, 2016 – Today, Iron Street was packed in Negaunee with people celebrating Pioneer Days! There was no shortage of floats, marching groups and exciting sounds in this parade. Today was, personally, my first Pioneer Days Parade, and now I can’t wait for next year. All of the pride and hard work shown by all of the groups, as well as the smiles seen from the crowd, made this parade a great addition to the Pioneer Days celebration!
We at Great Lakes Radio were also very glad to be a part of all the excitement! Walt and Mike from the Sunny Morning Show started our line up in the flashy Sunny.fm van and behind them was Joe Duckworth manning the WRUP van. Following behind the WRUP van was Adam Carpenter from the Outdoor Show on 103FXD with Todd Noordyk as co-captain in a camouflage Kawasaki Mule from Zambon’s in Marquette. Completing our crew was Eric Scott and Lane Dawson in the 103 FXD box truck!
A favorite float of mine was the Marquette County Medical Facility and their rainbow float. The group even had people dressed up as characters from the Wizard of Oz.
The cost of the Pioneer Days celebration is pretty high, and the Negaunee Irontown Association can always use more help and support to make the Pioneer Days celebration just as great as, if not better than, it has been all these years.
