Munising, Michigan – Friday, October 18 – Tonight the Ishpeming Hematites traveled south to
Manistique to battle the unwon Mustangs. The Hematites would be going to playoffs tonight if they win, so the pressure was on. Temperatures were beginning to lower, but team spirits were high. Remember you can always catch up with the Hematites on 98.3 WRUP.
It was the Homecoming Game for the Munising Mustangs, but the first quarter quickly leaned into the Hematite’s favor. John Corkin came in on the right side and made the first touchdown. This was unheard of for the Hematites this season, going right. The Mustangs had no way to see it coming.
With a touchdown and a two-point conversion, the Hematites were on the board. 8-0.
Ishpeming secured their lead in the second quarter. With two more Hematite touchdowns, the score was 24-0. The Mustangs fired back and made a quick touchdown before the first half ended. Hematites had to one up them, with another touchdown. Leaving the mid-way score 32-6.
The Hematites continued to score repeated touchdowns in the final half. They dominated the Mustangs, keeping the ball in their hands all night. The Mustangs didn’t stand a chance. Final score was 54-6.
