The Ishpeming Hematite Girls tonight went to Negaunee to take on the cross town rivals Negaunee Miners. The Hematites put up a good but couldn’t overcome an eleven point run in the third quarter to drop the game 48-40.
The Hematites started out slow as the Miners jumped to a 13-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter though they found their legs as they outscored the Miners 12-8 to cut the lead to 21-16.
Early in the third quarter the Hematites continued to chop away at the lead and took
the lead 27-25. The Miners responded though with an eleven point run to retake the
lead and keep it for the victory 48-40.
Ishpeming Hematite Girls basketball continues when they play the Westwood Patriots on Thursday, January 24th in Ishpeming. Pregame will be 7:30PM and tip off will be at 7:45PM right here on WRUP 98.3FM.
