Harvey, MI – December 5th, 2015 – Another great season of UPCROSS cyclocross racing is in the books, and the Choco-Cross Crusade was the championship and final race of the season!
The points race for the overall winner of the UPCROSS racing series was decided earlier in December at the Choco-X race, and it was definitely the best course of the season! The weather was perfect for cross racing in the mid 40s with just a few patches of snow and mud scattered throughout the course to give the racers some fun obstacles. There was even some actual road racing portions of the course, which made each lap seem really fast, which was perfect for me! I earned my “crash” nickname down in Wisconsin for my superior bike handling skills, but I was able to ride the whole race without hitting the dirt despite some slick conditions. It sure was a relief to be on a course with some pavement sections that I knew I wouldn’t have to worry about my handling ability!
It was great to see all the people who came out to support the race, and it was a great afternoon of racing and fun! Thanks to the Mahaney family for letting all us racers tear up their property and for setting-up an awesome course for us to race on! Make sure you swing by Ace Hardware in Harvey, MI and show Tom and his family your support! Also, thanks to Jon Kangas for helping run all the races this year!
