Another successful week for “the Rock” as the Ishpeming Hematites collectively went 3-1. Unfortunately for the boys, the one they needed most was just out of their grasp. After an 81-40 beat down of Manistique on Wednesday, the Hematites weren’t able to tie themselves up with the rival Negaunee Miners atop the MPC on Friday, ultimately falling 2.5 games back of first place (Negaunee has the tie + a 2 game lead). The boys will have a tough week this week, as they play three games in five days as follows:
- Monday, 2/10 Ishpeming vs. Norway Knights — 7:45pmtip (WILL NOT BE BROADCASTED)
- Tuesday, 2/11 Ishpeming vs. Marquette Redmen — 7:15 pregame followed by a 7:45 tip.
- Friday, 2/14 Ishpeming vs. Manistique Emeralds — 7:15 pregame followed by a 7:45 tip.

The girls, meanwhile were able to continue their winning ways, as they pushed their win-streak to four with one non-conference win over Gladstone and an MPC victory against Norway. Both were well in hand, as the Lady Hematites won both games by a combined 27 points (15 & 12 respectively).
The Lady Hematites will have to hit the road this week as the boys defend the home-turf. They’ll have a tough, albeit odd, schedule ahead of them:
- Monday, 2/10 Ishpeming @ L’Anse Purple Hornets — 7:00 pregame with a 7:20 tip.
- Tuesday, 2/11 Ishpeming @ Escanaba Eskimos — 7:00 pregame with a 7:30 tip.
- Saturday, 2/15 Ishpeming @ Gwinn Modeltowners — 2pm pregame with a 2:30 tip.
Six games folks….SIX! That’s six games in six days with that odd one on Saturday against the Modeltowners. Whether you need to hit M-35 or head on over to Ready Street, get out and support your Hematites! “Respect the Rock!”
