It was a quick start to the scoring when the Ishpeming Hematites quickly put up two points to take the early lead over the Emeralds. Baskets kept falling for Ishpeming, and soon they had a six-point lead. Manisitque was having some major problems with fouls early in the game, and Ishpeming used those free throw attempts to increase their lead. With two minutes left in the first quarter, the score was 9-2 for the Hematites. Sophie Hooper nailed a long three point with just over one minute remaining in the first. With under :17 seconds left in the quarter, the Hematites continued to lead by more than five points, and the Emeralds seemed frustrated with their early play.

Just like the first quarter, the Ishpeming Hematites quickly added several points to their total. Ishpeming scored seven-straight points to make the score 21-9 before the Emeralds were forced to use another early timeout. Manistique finally got their first points of the quarter from a Hematites’ foul, but they still trailed by more than ten points. The Emeralds’ McDaniels was having a fantastic game, and she had a total of five blocked shots just over one and a half quarters into the game. The game kept rolling along with the Hematites leading, and as the clock fell under two minutes left in the half, Ishpeming seemed frustrated that they weren’t having a better game. It was 30-16 with just under one minute left in the first half, and the Ishpeming Hematites would have the lead going into the second.

With only 16:00 left to play in their first Divisional Playoffs game, the Ishpeming Hematites had a healthy advantage to start the second half over the Manistique Emeralds. Fouls continued to be a problem for the Emeralds, and they couldn’t afford to give more points away from free throws. With under half of the quarter left to play, the Hematites had nearly doubled-up the Emeralds’ score, but they didn’t intend on slowing down anytime soon. With just over 2:00 left in the third, Ishpeming continued to lead 43-22. As the third quarter fell under one minute left to play, Ishpeming added a few more points to their score and looked to the final 8:00 of play.

Just seconds into the fourth quarter, it was 53-25 after the Ishpeming Hematites once again exploded out of the break. Manistique found some life early in the fourth, draining several baskets in a short time to close within 15 points of the Hematites. Ishpeming relaxed their offensive pressure late in the fourth and gave their starters a rest, which allowed the Emeralds to close to within about 10 points. Despite making a small comeback, the Hematites were just too strong for the Emeralds.
