Ishpeming, Michigan – December 20th, 2018 – Hematite ladies basketball prior to the Christmas break on 98.3 WRUP. This was the final game for 2018; the next game will be played on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019. The Miners take the lead over the Hematites in the first quarter, 3-0.
All Miners in the first quarter with the Negaunee ladies taking the lead, 9-0. Sophie Hooper was ready for her first free throw… it was up, and in! The Hematites get on the board and trail the Miners, 13-1. Hematites back up court and it was out of bounds. 18-6 and the buzzer sounds with the Miners in the lead over the Hematites at the end of the first quarter.
Foul on the Miners as they continue to dominate the Hematites, 24-12. 26-12 was the score as the Hematites trailed the Miners going right into the halftime show with Tyler & Bob.
Great start to the third quarter with the Hematites getting back on the board. Time out for the Hematites and the score of 36-15 with the lady Miners in the lead. Emma Poier headed down low and the lay up was good. 47-25 wraps up the third quarter with the Miners still holding their lead.
47-27 with the Miners having a 20 point lead over the Hematites. It was definitely a different offense than what we’re used to for the Hematites. Hematites were up court once again. The Miners keep possession from in-bounding from their own base line. A foul called on the Negaunee Miners with 1:10 left to go in the fourth quarter. With 1/2 minute to go in regulation the Miners lead the Hematites 64-33.
