Ishpeming, MI – January 30th, 2018 – The Ishpeming Boys High School basketball team took to the court in Ishpeming tonight defeating the Houghton Gremlins 70-48.
The Ishpeming Hematites Boys faced off against the Houghton Gremlins in a great game of basketball this evening. Hart Holmgren of the Hematites put in the first points of the game, setting the lead for Ishpeming to foreshadow the rest of the frame with a long running Hematite drive to finish out the first leading 20-10.
Hart Holmgren stated the second frame making his third successful 3-pointer of the game. The Gremlins answered back with a 3 of their own, but this just would not stop the Hematites momentum and they upped the tempo with Darius Yohe putting up a 3 of his own shortly after. The Hematites wrapped up the first half with a score of 43-18.
The second half followed the tempo of the first, the game at this point was not in doubt as the Ishpeming boys continued their assault on the Gremlins throughout the third to finish out 57-33. Despite the Hematites on a relentless drive with the lead, the Houghton Gremlins were a scrappy team and did not give up, firing back at the Hematites where and when they could.
Ishpeming continued into the final frame and took the W for a great game played against the Gremlins with a final score of 70-48. Leading the team score was Hart Holmgren with 21, followed by Darius Yohe with 12 and Dondre Yohe with 12. The Hematites shot 11 3-pointers and had 3 flushes, and Jaden Tucker shot 4 times and made 4 3-pointers for an impressive shooting display.
