The Ishpeming Hematite Girls tonight opened the Regionals in Marquette with the early game taking on the Manistique Emeralds. The Hematites were able to overcome a slow start and continue on in the tournament winning 50-36.
The Hematites did get off to a slow start tonight trailing for the entire first half until they were able to tie the game towards the end of the second quarter 19-19.
It was in the second half where the Hematites continued to gain strength though taking the lead in the third quarter and continued to build on that lead throughout the game. The Hematites were able to put the game away outscoring the Emeralds 19-9 in the fourth quarter for the win 50-36.
Ishpeming Hematite Girls basketball continue in the Regionals when they play the winner of the Houghton/West Iron County game on Thursday, March 7th in Marquette. Pre-game will be at 6:30 PM and tip-off will be at 7 PM right here on WRUP 98.3FM.
