Norway, MI- January 5, 2017- In a battle of unbeatens, the Ishpeming Hematites girls basketball team fell to the Norway Knights in the closing minute of a hard fought game. Jordan Kraemer of Norway sunk the game winning basket to win it for the knights.
The game started with a back and forth battle until Jordan Kraemer of the Norway Knights took over the first quarter where she scored 12 of her 23 points for the game. The Hematites trailed at the end of the first quarter 18-10.
To open the second quarter the Norway Knights were able to extend their lead to 23-10 before Ishpeming started to mount a comeback. The Hematites were helped with a big quarter from Marissa Maino scoring 9 points. Ishpeming was able to cut the deficit to 4 at the half and trailed 31-27.
The third quarter started slow for both teams and never really picked up until late. But the Hematites once again were able to shorten the Knights lead down to 3 with 5 points coming from Khora Swanson. Norway led 37-34 at the end of the third.

Everything seemed to pick back up in the fourth with the game on the line and two teams not wanting to suffer that first loss of the year. Ishpeming was able to tie the game late in the fourth 42-42 after a miraculous comeback but wasn’t able to stop Norway in the final minute when Jordan Kraemer sunk the game’s winning basket.
