The Ishpeming Hematites were able to get the win in their home opener tonight and go on to 2-0 for the season as the Hematites were able to beat the Manistique Emeralds handily 45-14.
The Hematites were able to strike twice quickly with a 65 yard drive to go up 8-0. Then get the ball back right away by intercepting a Manistique pass two plays later and find the end-zone soon after at 3:07 of the first quarter for a 14-0 score.
With 36 seconds left in the first quarter, the Emeralds were able to find the end-zone on a 33 yard run, but the Hematites struck back with four touchdowns that put the Hematites up for the rest of the game.
The Ishpeming Hematites will play Calumet Copper Kings in Ishpeming next week with the kickoff at 7:30 PM and pregame at 7PM with Mike Plourde and Bob Nadeau right here on 98.3 WRUP We Rock The UP.
