Ishpeming (3-0) Continues Their Dominance Against Calumet (0-3) on the Road 56-12; Will Play Struggling Patriots (0-3) on Friday

The Ishpeming Hematites play the Marquette Redmen on 98.3 WRUP

Ishpeming, MI –  The Division-7 unanimous number one team in Michigan simply cannot be beaten right now.  Whether you want to stop them or score on them, or even contain them, you can’t.  Throughout the first two games of the season, Ishpeming outscored opponents 74-0.  Unfortunately for the Hematites, there is no longer a zero in the opponents’ scoring column, but I think they’ll be okay with that after they put up a 56-spot last Friday in Calumet.  Ishpeming dominated the Copper Kings on offense to the tune of 623 total yards, 474 of them came on the ground.  As per usual, Alex Briones led the way for the Hematites tallying five touchdowns (2 passing & 3 rushing).

The Hematites move on to play intracity rival:  The Westwood Patriots.  Westwood has struggled mightily this year, getting outscored 108-40 in three losses to start the 2013 campaign.  Westwood’s biggest problem has been on the offensive side of the ball, where they only have managed to score double digits in one game so far this season.  The Patriots are a younger team and will rely on sophomore running back Brandon Benda who rushed for 53 yards in last week’s loss to Kingsford.

Be sure to join Mike Plourde & Bob Nadeau this Friday night as the Hematites host the Westwood Patriots.  You can catch it all on 98.3 WRUP or streaming live at WRUP.com.  Kick-off is at 7pm EST.
