The Ishpeming Boys Basketball Team Traveled to Hancock to Play Against the Hancock Bulldogs, 63-38

Hancock, MIJanuary 8th, 2020 The Ishpeming Hematite boys Basketball Team were ready to growl back at the Hancock Bulldogs. Tyler Young and Bob Nadeau from 98.3 WRUP were at the game reporting on every play.

The Ishpeming Hematies started off with the ball in the first quarter. The Bulldogs had five freshmen playing on their varsity team. Hematite Breck Bell passed a fast one to Chase Jensen. Jensen bounced one off the glass and into the basket 2-0. Hancock Bulldog Vandan Jacques came at the Hematites with a three pointer 3-2 . Bell responded and floated one up 4-3. Hematite Otto Swanson followed with a basket 6-3.  The Bulldogs found an opening and got the ball in the bucket 6-5. Swanson showed great defense, but Bulldog JD Sebbas found another opening and the score went up 8-6.  Hematite Jayce Kipling was able to get his Hematites ahead with some points 10-8. Ishpeming senior Ben Pruett noticed an opening and got in 12-10. Hematite Jacob Kugler followed behind Pruett with a two pointer 14-10. Bulldog Blake Raasio managed to score 14-11.  With less than a minute left Hematite Chase Jensen received the ball and passed it to Jayce Kipling, Kipling managed to get the ball in 16-11. With less than twenty seconds left on the clock Hematite Kugler found a way in and got a two pointer in 18-11.

The Hematites were ready to roll in the second quarter. Bulldog Jacques found an opening right away and scored 18-13.  Kugler bounced another ball off the backboard, and scored again for his teammates 20-13. Hancock Bulldog Carson Chynoweth scored a couple free throws 20-15. Sebbas worked his way up the court and scored a bucket 20-17. The Hematites scored more points, but the Bulldogs were right behind 24-18. Jacob Kugler flew by the Bulldogs and scored a three pointer. Bulldog Chynoweth answered immediately with a two pointer 27-20. Hematites John Corkin and Pruett ended the second quarter with more points 31-21. Bulldogs Sebbas and Jacques managed to work the the court and scored before the clock ran out 33-24.

The Hematites came back from halftime still ready to roll.  Hematites started off with the ball. Corkin passed the ball on to Kugler, Kugler threw the ball into the bucket 35-24. The Bulldogs tried to fight off Kugler, but he scored again 38-24. Bell worked his way up the line and shot one on up 40-25.  Kippling stole a good ball from the bulldogs and scored 42-25. Kugler showed off some fancy feet work on the court moving quickly scoring point after point, the Hematites had a 51-28 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter flew by. Kippling scored a couple free throw 53-28. Corkin found Pruett, Pruett bounced the ball in 55-28. JD Sebbes fouled out with still seven minutes left on the clock. Swanson worked it in 57-28.  Hematites were not barking down they kept scoring 60-28. Bulldog Chynoweth shot in some free throws for his teammates 60-30. Hancock sophomore Raasio threw a quick ball to teammate Gabe Smith, Smith scored a two pointer  60-34.  Hemmatite Jack Waananen found a way in and shot one up 61-34. At the end of the quarter Kippling found an opening and went the length of the court and scored 63-37. With less than thirty-five seconds left Hancock Bulldog Nathan Froiland scored a free throw, but it could not save the Bulldogs.  Hematites took home a well deserved win 63-38.
