Disc Golf “Fades” to Winter @ Powder Mill

Golf Course Sign

Marquette-Michigan (Phillip)  Disc Golf is a great excuse for a hike. I was introduced to the sport this summer and told they are “discs,” not “Frisbees.” The Powder Mill course in Marquette has trails along the Dead River that make for a 1 to 2 hour journey through the woods.

Everyone knows UP winters are extreme, but I haven’t seen any snow on the course yet. We’ve had a couple days of flurries and I’ve seen snow on cars coming from Negaunee and Ishpeming. I’ve learned a lot about the sport over the last couple months and I’m going to be sad to see the season end.

I’ll be on the Powder Mill course, by the BMX track off of Sugarloaf Ave right up till the point when the discs freeze in my hands. My throws always curve, the pros call it “fade.” So watch your head if you go near the course.
