Ishpeming, MI- September 2nd, 2021- The Ishpeming Hematites fell to the Westwood Patriots Friday evening. The game was broadcast live on 98.3 WRUP

1st Quarter – In the first quarter of the game, the Hematites own Logan Hurkmans (36) started with the kick off and the ball landed at the 40 yard line where the Westwood team began their drive. The Patriots really took control of the ball in the 1st half of the game with Zachary Carlson (#2), a star player who took the ball up and down the field Friday night. Zachary ran 3 first downs for the Westwood Patriots early in the game on Friday evening. He later successfully took the ball up the middle from the 19 into the end zone securing 6 points for the Patriots. The team attempted a two point conversion however was defended by the Ishpeming Hematites. Westwood launched the ball onto the 37 yard line where Ishpeming started their drive. Ishpeming struggling to gain some ground reached the 4th down with still no points. The first quarter of the game ended with 6-0 for the Westwood Patriots.

2nd Quarter- Later in tonight’s game the Westwood team breaks open with another first down. The ball was at the 29 yard line and the Patriots star of the evening, Zachary Carlson runs home for another touchdown for Westwood. After scoring they lined up for a successful two point conversion. 14-0 for the Westwood Patriots. The ball was kicked to the Ishpeming Hematites and dropped at the 45 yard line. Ishpeming player Luke Kostreva (#11) tried to make a trick play a faked the ball to the right side and brought it up the middle for a gain of 3 yards. After Ishpeming over threw a ball, an interception by Zachary Carlson takes the Westwood team up in their score with yet another touchdown with 9:51 in the 2nd quarter. The Patriots attempted the two point conversion and successfully bring the score to 20-0. The ball returned to the Ishpeming Hematites for only a little bit at their own 49 yard line. After failing to make the first down the Westwood Patriots quickly turned around completed a 57 yard touchdown pass with another successful two point conversion. The Westwood team continues to push their lead with 38-0. Later in the first half with another impressive run from Zachary Carlson passed the defensive line for a 27 yard return after the Ishpeming Hematites kicked it away. The Westwood Patriots kept pushing forward and continued scoring with another touchdown pass to #13, Marcus Boase but with no two point conversion. The quarter still going with 36-0 for the Patriots. The Westwood team kicked it away to the Hematites who had an amazing 30 yard return, pushing the ball down at their own 35 yard line. The Ishpeming snap was tipped to Max Wiljanen (#52) a Westwood linemen who took the ball and ran it back for yet another touchdown for the Patriots. The Patriots later took the victory stance to end the first half of the game. The 2nd quarter ended with 42-0 for the Patriots

3rd Quarter- In the 2nd half of tonight’s game. The Westwood Patriots kicked it high to the right and side and out of bounds. The Hematites began the second half at the 35 yard line. The “I formation” seemed to be a favorite for the Ishpeming team as Luke Kostreva (#11) hand to the right side for a gain of 5 yards.
4th Quarter- In the 4th quarter of the game the Hematites still struggling to gain any points on the board. They ran it up to 3rd and 8. The last half of the game was all about running out the clock for the Westwood Patriots. The Hematites had a little spark nearing the end of Friday evenings game with a couple of first down passes by Ishpeming’s own Hunter Smith (#33). With little time left in the game both teams headed to the sidelines wrapping the game. The Westwood Patriots dominated the field and finished the game with 42-0.
