I had a blast this past weekend down in Wisconsin, where I got to race at the People’s Cross Cyclocross Race that took place just North of Oshkosh, WI!
My awesome former employer, Mr. John Bartow, of Fond du Lac/Oshkosh Cyclery and Fitness was kind enough to get me set up on a great new TREK Crockett 9 CX bike, and I love it! It has 22 speeds, hydraulic disc brakes, a thru-axle front wheel skewer, and super smooth Ultegra shifting!
The course was fairly flat, but it was super fast. There were several very steep inclines on the back side of the course which split the field of racers up on the first lap and kept the race spread out. There was even a little bit of mud to ride through for the true CX fans out there! I managed to hang onto second place for two out of three laps, but the super-steep hills on the back of the course proved too tough for me. I ended up with a third place finish, which I’m very happy with.
Overall, it was a great day of racing, and I had such a blast! Cyclocross racing is always fun, but it was awesome to be back with the Fond du Lac/Oshkosh Cyclery group! I just want to thank Great Lakes Radio and all the super people at Fond du Lac/Oshkosh Cyclery and Fitness for helping me out!
