As summer comes to an end for U.P. high schools, the Ishpeming school district is finishing up several construction projects.
This chimney, located downtown on the northwest side of the high school, use to serve the boiler room well. But now it’s falling a part and a new one is serving the schools.
Associated Constructors LLC, of Negaunee, has been contracted to dismantle it, but it will be difficult. Usually, contractors could just push it over, but since there are five steel bands holding the top together, they will have to be burnt off with a torch.
It is going to be interesting to see how they dismantle this old chimney!
