Gladstone MI – 03/09/2021 – Ishpeming Hematites travels to take on Gladstone here on WRUP 98.3
The game started slow with no scoring for the first two minutes. The Hematites fighting a win less season so far kept things close in the first quarter tying the game three times, and leading at the end of the quarter 13-11.
The second quarter had the Braves pulling away slowly and Hunter Smith making a nice defensive play in the final seconds of the half to keep the braves lead to 7. With the score at the end of the half being 22-15 in favor of the braves. The half ended with Ishpeming having 20 rebounds, 9 of which belonged to Kipling, but where crippled by 8 turnovers. Gladstone had no turnovers .
In the third quarter the Hematites started with two fast scoring plays shrinking the Braves Lead. This was immediately followed by an 18 point scoring run by the braves that put the game out of reach for the Hematites. The scoring run ended at the end of third with the scoreboard showing 46-20.
The run was ended when Kipling came off the bench rested and scored four points in fast succession. The momentum was not enough for the Hematites to rally and with the Braves slowing the game down and controlling the clock the game ended with a score of 53-32 and another unfortunate loss for the Hematites.
