ISHPEMING, MI – August 12, 2014 –After two consecutive state championships, you’d think the Ishpeming Hematites would be concerned about who they have coming back. Losing a senior class that was able to take home the title multiple years in a row can be tough to replace. You’ll have to rely on the juniors who stepped up last year to take on leadership roles they may have never had before, and on some incoming juniors to step up in their first year of varsity football. Well the Hematites may be doing it at a perfect time. They’re bringing in a class that, last year, went undefeated and impressed a number of varsity coaches along the way.
In day two of practice, the players are still without pads and are chomping at the bit to prove themselves on the varsity level. Head Coach Jeff Olson, who has doubled the amount of championships in Ishpeming’s storied history in the past two seasons, will surely get this team ready for another MPC & Playoff run.
