The Ishpeming Hematite Girls tonight went to Negaunee to play the Negaunee Miners in the District Championship and were able to pull out a victory winning their third straight District Championship.
The Hematites were able to lead the entire game tonight but the lead wasn’t by much throughout
the game. The Hematites had only a three point lead at halftime 19-16. The Hematites were able to keep holding off the Miners in the second half as well leading 27-26 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth the Miners tried to push the Hematites but the Hematites were able to hold onto the lead, and were able to hold on for the win 45-41.
Ishpeming Hematite Girls basketball continues in the Regionals when they play the winner of the Manistique/Newberry game on Tuesday, March 5th in Marquette. Pre-game will be at 5:30 PM and tip-off will be at 6 PM right here on WRUP 98.3FM.
