Lansing, MIMarch 21, 2026 – With a 48-28 win over the St. Patrick Shamrocks, the Ishpeming Hematites captured their second Division 4 State Championship in three seasons on Saturday morning.  It was a close game to start, but a 15-0 second quarter for Ishpeming allowed the Hematites to widen the gap and ultimately gave them the cushion they needed to take home the title.

The season was a memorable one for Ishpeming, with Jenessa Eagle capturing (and greatly inflating) the school’s all-time record for career points, Mya Hemmer recording her 1,000th career point (in the championship game, no less), and Ryan Reichel capping off his tenure as head coach by becoming only the third in Upper Peninsula history with multiple state championships.
