Cooks, MI – 12/1/17 – The Big Bay De Noc Black Bears welcomed in the Superior Central Cougars on Friday night for the first Friday night game of the season. The Black Bears defense put the pressure on early and cruised to a 47-35 victory. The Black Bears were led by Holli Stapleton who had a team high 19 points. Stapleton is off to a hot start in the first two games of the season with a team high in points in both games. Stapleton was followed up by Brooke Dalgord who added 17 points and forced many turnovers. The Black Bears defense put the pressure on in the first quarter and the Superior Central Cougars seemed to be caught off guard in their first game of the season turning the ball over on 60% of their plays in the first half.
In the second half the Cougars came out aggressive cutting the Black Bears lead down to three with five minutes remaining but the Black Bear defense came up big once again forcing turnovers and built a ten point lead to come away with their first victory of the season. Listen to the whole game here
