Big Bay De Noc Black Bears Honor 1,000 Point Players and Defeat Superior Central Cougars 64-54

Big Bay De Noc, MI – A packed house for the Big Bay De Noc 1,000 point banner ceremony. 92.7 WRUP with all your coverage for the ceremony honoring all 1,000 point Big Bay De Noc Alumni players and exciting basketball boys high school basketball action. The Big Bay De Noc Black Bears Boys Basketball hosted the Superior Central Cougars and the anticipation built as 9 women and 8 men were honored for achieving 1,000 points. Senior night brought the proud Black Bear parents out onto the court, and a beautiful presentation of the National Anthem charged both teams up for the game.

Ryan Ranguette joined by Terry “Grandpa” Ranguette strapped on the headsets to bring us exciting 1,000 point ceremony coverage and play by play action. The Black Bears won the opening tip off, and the battle for tonight’s victory was under way. The Black Bears were the first team on the score board and after pulling ahead from a big, fouled 4 point play, they finished the first quarter leading the Cougars 18-10.

Second quarter action was underway as the Black Bears play hard to maintain their early lead. A Superior Central timeout tried to shake the Black Bears, but they continued to pull ahead. A rowdy stadium full of fans kept the energy high as the teams battled it out on the court. Ryan and his Grandpa Terry thanked sponsors and fans for showing so much support for the teams and carefully descried everything happening on the court, giving listeners insight into the players strategies and team plays. A sweet free throw brought the Black Bear lead up to 23-15 with just a few minutes left in the first half. Players speed up play as the first half neared an end. Eric Johnson hit a huge 3 pointer at the buzzer to finish the first half. The moment was bitter sweet, but the score being 31-23 in Big Bay De Noc’s favor helped. A dedication to the late Pat Groleau was presented during the half time break.

Third Quarter play continued the Big Bay De Noc’s success, Black Bear’s leading 35-27 with just over 5 min left in the third. Multiple fouls and free throws broke up the action but couldn’t shake the Black Bears momentum. Good offensive play from both teams keep the packed house of fans on the edge of their seats cheering on the athletes on this special night of 1,000 point players being honored and competitive basketball.

Exciting fourth quarter play to finish the regular season with a win for the Big Bay De Noc Black Bears. Robbie Ray hit another big 3, increasing the Black Bear’s lead to 55-38 as he seemed unstoppable from the 3 point line. Cougars desperate to rally for the win get into a little foul trouble as the 4th quarter nears an end.
