Ishpeming, MI – February 20th, 2018 – The Ishpeming Hematites Girls High School Basketball team took a victory vs the Manistique Emeralds in their home of Ishpeming tonight with a final score of 52-39.
The Ishpeming Hematites Girls basketball team took court in Ishpeming this evening facing off against the Emeralds in a pretty tight game nobody expected. The Manistique Emeralds played a good offensive and defensive game against the Hematites while the Hematites girls were trying some new strategies and tactics for some of their upcoming matches. 
The Hematites took an early lead in the first half, but by the start of the second half of the game the Emeralds were leading the Hematites by 2 points. A lot of this was due to the fact the Hematites starting girls were resting throughout the game in preparation for upcoming matches, but they took the court in the second half and pushed the lead above the Emeralds ensuring victory with a final game score of 52-39.
Madigan Johns led the Hematites score with a total of 20, followed by Mariah Austin with ten. The Hematites Boys are back in action February 21st when they take on the Iron Mountain Mountaineers.
