Early in the first quarter the Hematites came off the bench cold, not scoring before allowing L’Anse to make nine unanswered points. Ishpeming started to wake up scoring six points late, ending the quarter with a score of 13-6.
L’Anse continued to grind on the defensive end keeping the Hematite shooters from being effective. Hematites did not manage to make a three point shot in the half. Maki was the leading scorer with eight points but need more from the other shooters. The score at the half was 23-13 with offensive rebounds seeming to to be making all the difference.
The third showed the Hematites making better adjustments during the half not letting the scoreboard vary much. The teams danced around a ten point lead for L’Anse for most of the third. L’Anse managed to make two shots in the last minute to pull ahead slightly more with the score reading 36-22 at the end of three.
Scoring was slow in the fourth with after 4 minutes the only two points being scored was a pair of free throws by Nyman. With only eight combined points by both teams in the fourth, the Hematites have been eliminated from the playoffs 40-28.
