Ishpeming Hematites (42) Boys Basketball vs. Manistique Emeralds (30)
Ishpeming, MI – February 11th, 2015 – The Ishpeming Hematites boys basketball team took on the Manistique Emeralds in Ishpeming tonight. Mike Plourde and Bob Nadeau brought you the action live on 98.3 WRUP!
The Hematites won the tip off and Luke Kuliu had the first points of the game after scoring a layup. Kuliu scored again in the paint, and Thomas Finegan hit a jumper late in the quarter to tie the game at 6 going into the second.

Ozzy Corp heated up early in the second quarter, hitting a 3-pointer then scoring in the paint on the first two possessions for Ishpeming to give the Hematites a 11-6 lead. Corp scored again with a deep jumper, and Manistique got their first basket of the quarter on a putback shot to make it 13-8 with 4 minutes left in the half. A layup by Nick Comment was followed by 4 straight points for Manistique, making it 17-12 with 1:37 left. A free throw by Corp was followed by an Emeralds basket to make it 18-14 going into halftime.

The Hematites opened the third quarter with another 3-pointer, this time by Kuliu to make it 21-14. Ishpeming would then go on a 11-4 run to make it 32-18 with 2 minutes left in the quarter. Manistique would score once more before the end of the quarter, and the Hematites went into the final quarter with a 32-30 lead.

Thomas Finegan had the first point of the quarter with a free throw, and Ozzy Corp went to the free throw line, making both free throws to make it 35-20. Free throws brought the Hematites to a 39-22 lead halfway through the quarter, and despite an 8-0 run by Manistique, a 3-pointer by Halen Carello was nail in the casket, and the Hematites won 42-30.

The Hematites were lead in scoring and rebounding by Ozzy Corp, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Luke Kuliu and Thomas Finegan both contributed 9 points for the Hematites in the win.
