The Ishpeming Hematites opened their 2011 season tonight hosting the Iron Mountain Mountaineers hoping to get a good start to the season.  Unfortunately the team ran into a stiff defense and had some turnover problems leading to a 28-16 loss tonight.

The first quarter showed an Ishpeming offense that is trying to find its feet as they turned over the ball a few times in the first quarter.  The Mountaineers were able to take advantage of this and go up 28-0 in the first quarter.

In the  second quarter the Hematites were able to get their offense in line for a score to make it 28-8.  For the rest of the game neither side could find the end zone except for the Hematites finding the end zone within the final minute.

Next week the Hematites travel to take on the Manistique Emeralds!  Pre-game starts at 7:00PM and kickoff is at 7:30PM right here on 98.3FM WRUP, the home of Ishpeming sports.
