Ishpeming Hematites fall against Hancock Bulldogs, 20-12 on 98.3 WRUP

Ishpeming, MI – September 2, 2021 – The Ishpeming Hematites continued their 2021 drive taking on Hancock Bulldogs Friday evening. This game was broadcast live on 98.3 WRUP!

1st Quarter – In the first quarter of the game, the Hematites had trouble diving through the Bulldogs defense. Ishpeming started tonight with the ball that was at the 25 yard line. Ishpeming’s own wide receiver, Tramon Gauthier, had a great run in the first quarter. The Hancock Bulldogs in the beginning of the game came out with a strong offensive line. Later in the quarter, a great run from Trevor Halonen brought the Hancock Bulldogs their first touchdown of the game. Ending the first quarter at 6-0 for the Bulldogs

Ishpeming and Bulldogs Face Off

2nd Quarter – Later in tonight’s game, the Bulldogs kept up their drive and started the 2nd quarter off with another touchdown for Hancock with a 50 yard run from Todd Anderson. The failed attempt from the two point conversion left the Bulldogs at 12-0 against the Hematites. Ishpeming towards the end of the first half of tonight’s game struggled to pull through any points. With less than a minute in the second quarter the Ishpeming Hematites own Logan Hurkmans (36) completed a 59 yard touchdown pass to give Ishpeming up to 6 points.

3rd Quarter – In the 2nd half of tonight’s game the kick was picked up at the 30 yard line and brought up to the 48 yard line for the Ishpeming Hematites. With the end nearing, the Hematites gained a little bit of steam on the field. Luke Kostreva passed a touchdown to Dawson Delongchamp later in the 3rd quarter to tie up the game at 12-12.

4th Quarter – In the 4th quarter of the game, Hancock’s own Chad Nordstrom begins the end with another touchdown pass and a successful two-point conversion changing the score to 20-12 for the Bulldogs. Hematites started deep in their territory with less than 10 in the last quarter. They were taken back to the 29 yard line to start their drive. Towards the end of the night the Hematites struggled to gain another first down ending the game on a turnover on downs. The game ends 20-12 for the Hancock Bulldogs.
