Ishpeming, MI – September 1, 2022 – The Ishpeming Hematites football team showed their impressive team speed in a 52-0 rout of the Hancock Bulldogs at the Ishpeming Playgrounds on Thursday evening. Ishpeming set the tone right from the beginning, scoring on a 77-yard touchdown run by Hunter Smith on the first play of the game. They didn’t let up from there, carrying a 16-0 score into the second quarter and a 32-0 score into halftime. The second half saw many of the second- and third-string players get meaningful playing time, and even they were able to stifle Hancock’s offense, not allowing a single first down in the third and fourth frames en route to a 52-0 whitewash.
