Gladstone was able to jump out to a quick lead, but Ishpeming did their best to prevent them from running away. Just like in the JV game, the Hematites had some trouble with fouls, but the refs were calling the game equally.
Gladstone brought the ball in-bounds to start the second quarter, and they quickly were fouled by the Ishpeming Hematites which led to two more points for the Braves. The Hematites’ Khora Swanson helped lead the team, scoring several jump shots and keeping Ishpeming in contact with Gladstone. The Braves were able to keep their lead throughout the second quarter, despite some excellent play from the Hematites.
