Packers (31) Return to Lambeau Field with a Victory over the Raiders (21)

Written by on August 23, 2014

GREEN BAY, WI – 8/23/2014 –Packer fans rejoiced as their beloved team returned back to the friendly confines of Lambeau Field for the third game of the pre-season.  This time, they’d be welcoming back some familiar faces that are now members of the Oakland Raiders.  Among those are the 2009 Defensive Player of the Year Charles Woodson, and the 2012 receiving touchdown leader James Jones.  Woodson went back to Oakland, the team that drafted him, after the 2012 season, and James Jones followed suit this past off-season.  So the atmosphere at Lambeau was friendly & exciting, as the third game of the pre-season is basically the dress rehearsal for the regular season.

The Packers came out strong, scoring just three minutes into the first quarter.  Aaron Rodgers was sharp once again, as he played most of the first half.  Rodgers finished the game going 9/20, but added 139 yards and two touchdowns.  Starting running back Eddie Lacy ran the ball six times for 36 yards, including a one-yard touchdown run.  Leading the way for the Packers’ starting receivers were Jordy Nelson (2 rec, 19-yds, 1 TD) & rookie tight end Richard Rogers (2 rec, 40 yds).

Also doing well for the Packers was rookie receiver Davante Adams (2 rec, 42 yds) who had his second consecutive good game offensively.  Much has also been made of the Packers depth at running back this off-season.  James Starks struggled this time around, but Dujuan Harris made up for it by gaining 56 yards on 12 carries (4.7 ypc).
