UPIR Race Recap Show: 6/9/2014

ESCANABA, MI – While the weather may have not cooperated this past weekend as much as we would have liked, the weather couldn’t effect Tony Perino from heading on down to Ernie’s Irish Pub of Escanaba.  Tony and John welcomed a few guests who were able to race before the weather cancelled the final few races of the evening:

  • Jeff Sullivan won the first heat of the Street Stock race rocking the #18 car on the track.  Jeff went on to discuss some of the complexities of the UPIR, and even added a few tips to the young racers.  When pressed for some more tips, Jeff gave the response with a wink:  “A great racer never reveals his secrets.”
  • Robbie Iverson was the winner of the Sport-4 heat three.  Robbie, 24, has raced around the area almost his entire life, and can be seen in the #141 car on the track in the coming weeks.
  • Kristy Peterson, daughter of local racer Dale Peterson (who also won his heat this past weekend in the modified races), took home the 500 microsprint heat win.  She is one of four girls in this division and rode the Black & Pink #32 car to victory.  Kristy thanked her parents, especially her father for being her coach on & off the track.
