Tentatively titled 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault, it will be a studio disc that contains newly recorded versions of old tracks that, for one reason or another, never made it onto an album. Following his participation in the 50th anniversary celebration of the Beatles’ first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show — which aired in February as the special The Beatles: The Night That Changed America — A Grammy Salute — the Eagles guitarist was drafted to help out on two other projects.
Walsh confirms to The Hollywood Reporter, “I was a Foo Fighter for two days and played on a track of theirs that’s gonna come out.”

Smokey & Friends is due September 9, Billboard reports, and in addition to Elton John the album, produced by American Idol‘s Randy Jackson, will feature James Taylor. RCA/Sony Latin IberiaIt’s a good week to be Carlos Santana. The Grammy-winning guitarist’s new disc, Corazon, has scored a number-nine debut on the Billboard album chart, and topped the magazine’s Latin album chart.
Corazon, which is also the first album of Santana’s career to contain solely Latin music, finds him collaborating with a wide range of artists, including Gloria Estefan, Ziggy Marley, Latin rapper Pitbull and jazz great Wayne Shorter.
