Interview With John Kivela

State Representative John Kivela called in this morning on his drive back to Marquette to talk about the current healthcare bill in Michigan being touted by Governor Snyder and why he voted for it.  His opinion is that some people are against it because they are against Obamacare, but that ship has sailed and it’s time to work within that framework.

A lot of the problem as well is the cost, which is about 40 million dollars a year for the state after a few years.  To Kivela if that’s the cost for a half a million people, that’s worth it in the scope of the Michigan budget.  He believes that the bill will get passed eventually with some changes.

The group is there as a more informal way for many veterans to form bonds with other veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.  You can find more information on their facebook page here, and their website here.  You can also email
