Summer Fun Shared Through Area Actor

Friday, January 6th, 2012

Ishpeming01/06/12 – Teacher, poet, and actor, B.G. Bradley opens up the world of summer at the lake in his one man presentation Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at west Ishpeming Joy Center. At the Lake features poems, outdoor journals, stories, and folk songs in a voice that can best be described as everyman’s.

There’s a little bit of philosophy, a dash or two of humor, and lots of tales of the outdoors in the U.P., according to Bradley. The show is based on Bradley’s low key adventures at the lake during the summer of 2011, and veers off into other summers spent there, by himself, friends, and family.

Mr. Bradley

At The Lake

“The poems and outdoor journals grow right out of my walks and paddles along the lake and in the woods,” said Bradley. “There are no car chases, spaceships, or zombies, but I’d like to think there are some real adventures contained here.”

Bradley is a 24 year veteran of the high school classroom, a published poet, and journalist, and a lifelong resident of the U.P.

The Joy Center, located at 1492 Southwood in West Ishpeming, is an arts center which has been operated for three years under the tender care of Helen Haskell Remein of Ishpeming. Shows like Bradley’s are frequent features, along with arts of all descriptions from music, to writing, to yoga.

Tickets for At the Lake are $5 at the door. All proceeds benefit the Joy Center, the Westwood Drama Department, and the Westwood Shakespeare Company. For further information phone (906) 486-8966
