Green Bay Packers Look to Extend Head Coach Mike McCarthy

The Green Bay Packers

GREEN BAY, WI – MAY 5TH, 2014 – With the NFL Draft coming this weekend, the Green Bay Packers have begun discussions to extend Head Coach Mike McCarthy.  McCarthy, who was hired in 2006, is going into the final two years of his current deal.  He ranks third on the Packers coaching wins list behind only “Curly” Lambeau (209) and the legend himself, Vince Lombardi (89).  As every Packers fan knows, once you win a Super Bowl, you’re immortal in Green Bay.  See:  Holmgren Way or Lombardi Avenue.

The trio of GM Ted Thompson, HC Mike McCarthy, and QB Aar0n Rodgers, the Packers have been a powerhouse in the NFC North since they came together, winning 4 out of 8 division titles.  That, combined with a Super Bowl trophy, makes McCarthy an ideal coach to have as long as Aaron Rodgers is around.

We’ll see what the Packers can do with this year’s draft class.  We’ll keep you updated on all of the Green Bay Packers draft stock, so be sure to come back to 98.3WRUP, your home for the Green Bay Packers!
